Overview
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED
Design a cloud application for managing IoT devices in production lines, factories and companies. The application should allow these devices to be set up, their attributes configured and monitored for operation, to solve problems or possible outages, repairs or modifications.
DISCOVERY
I wanted to learn and understand how users currently configure individual devices, what tools they use, what does not suit them in the current solution and, conversely, suits them. I conducted personal interviews and skype meetings with participants with whom I was unable to meet in person.
The survey gave me a number of answers and an understanding of how everything currently works and what the problems of users are.
PERSONA
I used the knowledge to create a Person, thanks to which I was able to verify the achievement of user goals using certain functions of the application.
INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE
After identifying the main functions, I mapped the information architecture to show the hierarchy of main and secondary functions. The information architecture gave me an idea of how to organize the content and how many interactions (screens) will be needed to complete the task.
USER FLOW
I have prepared a series of user flows that show the passage of applications.
IDEATION
After gathering enough information, I started creating individual wireframes. I created a set of wireframes needed to test the main user steps.
PROTOTYPING
I created functional prototypes, formerly in the Axure RP tool, and I am currently working and creating prototypes in Adobe XD.
VERIFY
I repeated user testing on a prototype I created to verify that the goals were met or not. The aim was to identify possible problems and ambiguities that could improve in future iterations. In this way I work on the project from the beginning and gradually add and verify the proposed improvements and changes.
STYLE GUIDE
After completing the final design, I created a style guide with a description of the design and behavior of the entire workflow.
PROJECT PRESENTATION AT HANNOVER MESSE 2019
Microsoft, in cooperation with our company, presented the application that I designed. The application was running on Azure Stack. I had the opportunity to attend this event as a guest and it was a great experience. I met a lot of great people and thank you for this opportunity and experience.
